Breaking the Cycle

I am currently undertaking one of the biggest challenges of my life. I’m losing all the extra weight that I have gained since childhood. I was going to consider surgery, but with the great support from the cycling community, I'm going to take on this challenge by riding my bike, and someday maybe racing in a cross or road race.

About Me

I am currently undertaking one of the biggest challenges of my life. I’m losing all the extra weight that I have gained since childhood. I am working cyclists in the cyclocross, road, MTB, and track cycling community to improve my health and to be able to do participate in sports again most importantly cycling! I had considered undergoing bariatric surgery and having a Lap-Band, but I have since committed to losing the weight naturally, via cycling and regular exercise.... My dream weight is between 190 to 200 pounds. In addition to the weight loss, I hope to put my type 2 diabetes in remission. If all goes according to plan, I hope to be 350lbs by June 1 2011, Race in a few cross races in the fall, maybe some road in the summer. and some day maybe wear a skinsuit.. More on that later.. Update as of Jan 2011, My weight is now 406 lbs.. When i started in April of 2010 on the trainer i was 570.. Thanks for all the cyclist who have helped me reach this point and are currently helping me towards my goal of road cycling and cyclocross racing.
